Season 1List of episodes Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime television series based on Gege Akutami's manga series of the same name. The anime series was announced in the 52nd issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump published in November 2019. [1] In February 2022, a second season was announced. [2] Shōta Goshozono replaced Sunghoo Park as series director, with Sayaka Koiso and Tadashi Hiramatsu designing the characters and Yoshimasa Terui returning as the sole composer. [3] It aired from July 6 to December 28, 2023. [4] The season ran for two continuous cours (with a brief break between the undermentioned arcs) and adapted the manga's "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" and "Shibuya Incident" story arcs. [5] "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" acts as a prequel to Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and the first season, as it focuses on a teenage Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto during their time as students at Jujutsu High in 2006 and how the two went from friends to enemies. "Shibuya Incident" takes place back in present day 2018 as the Sorcerers and Curses engage in an all-out war in Shibuya on Halloween night. For the second season's first five episodes (covering the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" arc), Tatsuya Kitani performed the opening theme song "Where Our Blue Is" (青のすみか, Ao no Sumika) while Soushi Sakiyama performed the ending theme song "Light" (燈, Akari). [6] For episode six onwards (covering the "Shibuya Incident" arc), King Gnu performed the opening theme song "Specialz" while Hitsujibungaku performed the ending theme song "More Than Words". [7][8] The season is licensed by Crunchyroll for streaming outside of Asia, and began streaming an English dub on July 20, 2023.
