Believing that Eris has lost all interest in him, a heartbroken and depressed Rudeus sets forth to the Northern Territories. With his sole goal being to locate his mother on the vast continent, Rudeus wonders if persisting through daily life is worth the pain, falling into a robotic routine as he endlessly ruminates on his lost love.
However, the dangers of the North soon prove that one cannot survive with a dulled mind. While on a quest with the party Counter Arrow, with whom he recently became acquainted, Rudeus has a brush with death—an experience that forces him to finally snap out of his despair.

RBFF2 built on the revised Fatal Fury 3 engine that the first RBFF used and added a couple of new characters to the mix: Rick Strowd and Li Xiangfei. Unfortunately there weren't a lot of changes made to the game other than balancing out the characters and simplifying the SDM attacks. However, it's still one of the more enjoyable games in the series. Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition (1999, Hyper NeoGeo 64)
Also appearing on: PlayStation (1999)
First appearing on SNK's new Hyper 64 hardware, Wild Ambition is the only game in the series to have gone the 3D route. Despite this, it still played very much like a 2D game, only with polygon models instead of sprites. Unfortunately, much like Samurai Shodown Warriors Rage, Wild Ambition didn't find a receptive audience despite the move to next-generation graphics. Blame it on the slow gameplay or unbalanced characters, but fans didn't latch onto this game like they did Mark of the Wolves. Garou: Mark of the Wolves (1999, NeoGeo)
Also appearing on: Dreamcast (2000)
The final installment in the Fatal Fury series takes place roughly 10 years after the last King of Fighters tournament. Geese has been disposed of, but he has left behind a present for the world in the form of his son, Rock Howard. Terry has taken in Rock and has trained him to be a competent fighter, and the result is a formidable opponent whose abilities are a hybrid of Terry's and Geese's abilities. Aside from Terry, the entire cast is completely new, although there are some very noticeable tie-ins. 05, Hajimari no Chiten 2005. 05) 37. "Footsteps, July 2005" (足音 2005. 07, Ashioto 2005. 07) 38. Later, Ippo went to Osaka to see Sendō's comeback match at the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium. Ippo watched as Sendō won by a one round knockout and excitedly went to his changing room to congratulate him. When Ippo entered, Sendō was arguing with Ryūhei Sawamura, who Ippo recognised as the JBC third ranker in the featherweights. Ippo went to greet Sawamura, however the third ranker denied a handshake from the champion and walked away after suggesting for Ippo not to use the Dempsey Roll, as Sawamura saw it as a clumsy technique that will fall apart. Sendō noted by experience that Sawamura can back up his words, and warned Ippo that he is a counter puncher, along with being the Dempsey Roll's natural enemy. Outside the building, Sendō told Ippo how Sawamura may have the potential to surpass Miyata, suggesting to train with someone able to counter the Dempsey Roll.
