Jin ends up meeting and bonding with a woman called Shino, who was contemplating drowning herself rather than sell herself into prostitution to pay her husband's debts. While she does become a prostitute the following day, Jin pays to be with her, then helps her escape when he finds out her husband is beating her. It is revealed that Mugen was sentenced to death for a crime he committed, and he jumped in the ocean while Mukuro and Koza watched. Mukuro forces Mugen to join him on a job after winning a bet against Mugen.
